Lake Center Christian School (LCCS) attended the FIRSTLEGO League (FLL) NEOFRA Girard RoboCats Regional Tournament on Sunday, December 17th at Girard High School in Girard, Ohio.  LCCS sent three teams from their elementary robotics program.  Two out of the three teams earned an invitation to continue on to the next level of competition.

This year’s topic is HYDRO DYNAMICSSM - In the 2017/2018 HYDRO DYNAMICSSM season, students are working to examine the human water cycle (the ways people find, transport, use, and dispose of water) in order to meet a specific need or desire. Teams work to identify a problem within the human water cycle, design a solution that makes this problem better, and share their problem and solution with others. They also design and build a robot using LEGO Mindstorms to complete water themed missions for the Robot Game portion. Students ages 9 to 16 from 80 countries will make a splash with HYDRO DYNAMICS this season.

The teams present to judges in three areas: Core Values, Project, and Robot Design.

LCCS teams always emphasize one of the FLL Core Values, gracious professionalism. All three teams highlighted the verse from Matthew 7:12a (NIV) “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you,” since it is what gracious professionalism means to them.

The Golden Girls accept their trophy for winning the Core Values Award.
The Robots for Christ run a mission during 1 of 3 robot table rounds. The team won the 2nd place Robot Design Award for their robot.
