At LCCS, we value service to Christ. Each grade is encouraged to adopt one service project each year. These projects often include various clothing and food drives.
Each week elementary students donate nonperishable food and clothing items for students in need at a public elementary school in Akron, Ohio.
High school students often plan worship, skits and messages that offer hope to residents of Harvest Home, a ministry of Haven of Rest in Akron, Ohio.
Each year, a group of juniors and seniors serve on a mission team ministering to an isolated Haitian community in the Dominican Republic. LCCS is partnering with this village to improve their living conditions, through water purification, construction of latrines, and solid waste disposal sites. We also assist the families with basic necessities including food, clothing and medical care.
Each spring, high school students participate in Mini-Term,in which students explore an area of interest outside of the normal school program. Each Mini-term has a service component where studentsserve in soup kitchens, homeless shelters, construction projects, and even minister the Gospel in churches and youth centers. Locations have included Chicago, New York, Appalachia, Louisiana, and Mexico.
